The Philippines-Venezuela Solidarity Network sends its deepest condolences to the people of Venezuela and Latin America on this somber occasion of the death of Compañero President Hugo Chavez, who has inspired us and millions around the world, by his uncompromising struggle for the interests of the poor and against oppression and exploitation.
The death of this outstanding socialist leader is a tremendous loss for the international working class and socialist movements, and also a personal loss to the Venezuelan people. However, we also take to heart the statement by Compañero Nicolas Maduro that, “Those who die for life, can’t be called dead”. The struggle for a society free of oppression and exploitation, the socialist vision that President Chavez fought for, will continue, and his tremendous contribution to reviving the struggle for socialism in the 21st century will be his legacy to us and generations to come.
We, in the Philippines, honor this legacy by pledging to continue our solidarity with the people of Venezuela and their Bolivarian revolution for socialism.
Mabuhay, Komandante Chavez!
Tuloy ang Laban para sa Sosyalismo!
